How to Measure, Prepare & Lay

MEASUREMENTS

To calculate how many square meters you require, take Measurements by using the following diagrams:
  1. 113 meters Radius times itself times 3.14.
Image illustrating radius and diameter of a circle
  2. 32 square meters Length times width.
Image illustrating area of a rectangle
  3. 8 square meters Height by base divided by 2.

PREPARATION

  1. Prepare soil as if sowing seed, remove weeds.
  2. Rotary hoe or turn with a spade to a level of 75-100mm.
  3. You may wish to add top soil from your local garden supplies.
  4. Rake and then use a turf leveller on the soil to level the area.

LAYING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Leave soil 20 – 25mm below required height.
  2. Lay Turf in a Brick pattern - start at furthest point making a straight line. From boundaries first, roll out your turf as you would a rug. Butt together all joints, without overlaps. Stagger joints in each new row, like laying bricks as shown in diagram
  3. Cut the turf with a knife or spade for shaping.
  4. Rolling the turf will produce a very flat surface, but it is not necessary.
